Give Head

Oops again long time no post…. I do have an excuse, honestly I swear it’s true.

Anyway Logan Foster and I came up with the very original and brilliant idea to do a little contest thing, something small. So basicly we pick an idea set our self some limits and see what we can come up with.

For our first little challenge we really wanted to go all out, WHOOOHOOO!!.. So we took it upon our self to make a porn actrice. Limitation is that we can only make the head and there is no real pornography or nudity allowed, polycount is limited to 400 and I believe we also set a limit on texture size but I have to look that up. Wwe humorously dubbed the challenge “give head”. O man we are so funny, I guess this kind of proves that you don’t really have to be creative all the time to pretend you are an artist.

SO last Sunday I had a few spare hours and started on my porn babe, here are some quick mood sketches I came up with and the model I did.

I guess it’s on to UV mapping and texturing now, I’ll keep you guy’s posted.

Opencanvas

W00t!!!

I think i finally found good use for my blog…

I’m going to use it to post the opencanvas event file from my daily drawing sessions. Now you might wonder what the hell open canvas event files are. Opencanvas event files are files that contain events that happened in opencanvas.. ehhh..

Well open canvas is this cool little app that lets you set up a canvas that you can share over the internet, so multiple people can draw on the same whiteboard, I know that there are a few other programs out that that do basically the same but opencanvas actually gives you a good result if work it right. An other cool thing about open canvas is that it will let you export the full event file which you can latter import again and will play the whole process of making your drawing, very entertaining and, depending on the artist it might even be a good learning experience.

I pretty much have daily opencanvas sessions with Eric Ewel and it is those event files I’m going to post here. The opencanvas we use (opencanvas 11B68) is an old version so it is limited in it’s options but the up side is that it is free and very small.

Now to start you all up, HERE is the opencanvas we use. You can play around with it a bit but also, and that is even better, you can import the event files I’ll post here. Look for the first event file here tomorrow.

SO once more get opencanvas HERE

I'm not really slacking

Ok, ok I am slacking again, I know, sorry. So here's a quick update.

Finn has been sick (nothing serious just a cold and we believe he is getting his teeth) and has been keeping us from sleep. As a result to this Jetske also got a cold and stayed home 2 days last week just to catch some breath she really was feeling miserable.

In the mean time I have been working on our attic, I’m building 2 new bedrooms there. I hope to finish all the rough work this week we will leave the finishing for after the baby has come. Right now we are just in dire need of storing space so the 2 new rooms and little attic above it will come in handy.

One last note. If everything is correct Josh, Mark and Heidi from GarageGames are coming over to Amsterdam next week to attend to a casual games con that will be held there. They will be spending some time with us and I will try to show them around a bit. I’m really looking forward to it, to bad I still have to finish the rooms they will be sleeping in :).

O well back to work, I will update once they get here or have been here… somewhere next week!

TUBE TWIST

I saw that my good friend Justin Mette and his team from 21-6 Productions released their game Tube Twist yesterday. This game looked really promising at last IGC, I’m sure they even made it better since than.

Here is what they have to say about it:

The renowned scientist in charge of Project TubeTwist has gone missing! In an attempt to find the professor, you must reconstruct her experiments and solve the mystery of her disappearance.

The overall goal of the game is to construct a machine that will guide the professors' famous Macroton devices from their starting positions to a final reactor tube where their energy will be extracted and stored for later use. Over thirty different tubes of various shapes and sizes must be combined to complete the machines including spirals, switches, anti-gravity devices, twisty turns, and precipitous drops.

TubeTwist is a puzzle game fashioned after classics like The Incredible Machine and Mouse Trap. Each experiment has many solutions due to the large variety of tubes which can be used to construct each machine. There is no clock and there is no score - so just sit back and enjoy the mind bending fun that is TubeTwist!
So if you are looking for a challenging puzzle game be sure to check out the DEMO over at Garagegames. Make sure you buy it if you like it. You will be getting a cool game and will be supporting Indie Game Development at the same time, WHAT A GREAT DEAL!!
